Youth
Overview
The Directorate of Youth under the Ministry of Youth Affairs is responsible for coordinating and implementing youth development programmes and policies across Sierra Leone.
Key Functions
- Developing policies, strategies, and programmes aimed at youth empowerment, employment, skills development, and participation in national development.
- Coordinating youth-related activities nationwide and ensure alignment with government development priorities.
- Monitoring and evaluating youth programmes, projects, and initiatives to assess their impact and effectiveness.
- Promoting entrepreneurship, vocational training, innovation, and employment opportunities for young people.
- Encouraging youth involvement in decision-making processes at local and national levels.
- Working with ministries, NGOs, development partners, international organizations, and youth groups to implement youth programmes.
- Providing oversight and support to youth-serving agencies such as the National Youth Commission and the National Youth Service.
- Initiating and supporting technical, vocational, and leadership training programmes for youths.
